The Endurance of Indian Muslims on the Verdict of the Babri Masjid
The religion of Islam always teaches peace and order
Dr. Mohammad Najeeb Qasmi (www.najeebqasmi.com)
After 27 years of Babri Masjid's martyrdom, on 11th Rabi-ul-Awwal 1441, pertaining to 9th Nov, 2019, at 11 am, the decision of the Supreme Court of India regarding the case of Babri Masjid, struck like lightning, where people of justice still believe that the construction of the Babri Masjid has not been done by demolishing any temple, as the Supreme Court has acknowledged in its decision. Also, Muslims believe that in the light of the Qur'an and the Hadith, it is not in their power to even give the house of Allah to build a house for a person to stay, leave alone building a temple. That is why there have been many attempts to reconcile, but the leaders remain persistent despite their goodwill with the nation's citizens, saying that they do not have the right to convert the mosque, the house of Allah, into an idol house (temple) because if they do so, they are answerable in the court of the Almighty Allah. Yes, despite all efforts to protect the mosque, if the decision of the Supreme Court of India comes against us, we will accept it. In the recent Supreme Court ruling, the entire land of the 500-year-old Babri Masjid has been given to build the Ram Temple, as the RSS and the Bharatiya Janata Party have long desired. Peace loving people, especially Muslims, have accepted this decision inspite of it being against their will. Even though, according to the experts of  Indian law and various lawyers' statement, this decision has several flaws and it is evident that being a major case in the history of India, the decision will continue to be debated for a long time.
The All India Muslim Personal Law Board, Jamiat Ulamae Hind and other nationally recognized organizations fought their case well under the guidance of good lawyers with full preparation. It was hoped that the Supreme Court's decision would be based on documents rather than on Astha (austerity), but a five-member panel of judges ruled on the basis of Astha, which left the secular-minded community very sad because the decision in the largest case in the history of India should have been based on facts rather than austerity. Muslim organizations are pondering over the further layout for the future. Instead of criticizing the leaders of the nation, people should wait for further decision of Muslim organizations. It is quite possible that a petition be filed by the National and combined Organizations for review of the Supreme Court's decision using the right granted by the court, although changing the decision of the Supreme Court is no longer possible. But the Muslim party will at least have a chance to explain the flaws of this decision.
More than 20 million Muslims in India deserve the applause that despite the expectations of this important and sensitive case that went against their expectations, they maintained peace and tranquility in the country and displayed the best of patience in accordance with Islamic teachings. When some unruly people martyred the 500-year-old Babri Masjid in 1992 by violating Indian laws, riots broke out across the country, causing thousands of women and children to become helpless. But at that time, Muslims obeyed their leaders, controlled their emotions and cooperated with the administration to prevent the situation in the country from worsening. The Supreme Court has termed the demolition of the Babri Masjid wrong, but no verdict has been pronounced against those who have demolished the Babri Masjid, though the matter has been pending in the court for a long time.
One of the reasons that the Indian Muslims have given the example of patience in order to maintain law and order in the country is that the Prophet whose name they take has been sent as mercy for all the universe. Instead of terrorism, the Prophet's teachings promote a message of tolerance and brotherhood.
The Prophet of humanity has always taught us to establish law and order. So there has been more than a thousand years of Muslim rule over this world and the flag of monotheism hoists from east to west. Even India has been ruled by Muslims for hundreds of years, but in the meantime no religious extremism had flourished nor terrorism had been born, but instead, the honor and equipments of non-Muslims were given full protection like that of Muslims.
Certainly there have been circumstances on Indian Muslims for some years that have not been seen before, but we must confront these situations in view of the Prophet’s (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) seerah. From the time of prophethood until the death of the Prophet, numerous difficulties were given, but he never lost patience, he continued to perform the duties of the messenger with endurance. We should take lessons from the life of our Prophet, whether domestic, national or global, or whatever the situation may come upon us, let us be patient and strengthen our relationship with Allah by following the footsteps of our Prophet. According to the Indian law, we have the right to peaceful demonstrations, but we must take action under the patronage of nationally recognized organizations.
Finally, the Muslim brothers are requested to come forward to set up their own educational institutions, with the proper management of the best religious training of children with advanced education in modern sciences, so that our generations can avoid apostasy and transfer Islamic teachings to non-Muslim brethren through their words and deeds so that the correct information about Islam can be conveyed to them.
