Jacinda Ardern suggests hosting 'politics bootcamp' for Muslim women aspiring to leadership ---- Adam I. Seedat 25th Aug 2019
Jacinda Ardern has agreed to organise a 'politics
bootcamp' for Muslim women who want to move into local or central government
politics.
Her comments came as she spoke at the Women's Council
of New Zealand annual conference in Māngere, South Auckland today.
During a question and answer time, an Auckland Council
staffer asked how women could "rise as leaders" in an environment
where racism and challenges abound.
"In your view, can we beat the odds and get there
where you all are?" the woman asked Ms Ardern.
The Prime Minister then asked the audience who else
aspired to a career in politics.
With a large show of hands, Ms Ardern then mooted the
idea of a political forum for women.
"I would love for us to create a forum where we
can spend some time together, as politicians and women with those who are
interested in taking on leadership roles," she said.
The idea was met with applause from the crowd as Ms
Ardern continued to brainstorm the event.
"I will be there and we can have this
conversation," she said.
"It would be wonderful, so let’s be practical and
start politics bootcamp."
Ms Ardern says she is happy to help women from all
different backgrounds that are interested in breaking into politics.

Regime Redefines Anti-Semitism

Anti-Semitism in
the US and West is over-exaggerated, over-hyped, and overblown.
It serves the
interests of apartheid Israel, a racist police state run by fascist hardliners,
Zionist ideologues, and religious fundamentalists, masquerading as democratic.
For the past few
years, Anti-Semitism Awareness legislation was introduced in Congress but not
passed, including earlier this year.
It targets the
fundamental right to criticize Israel freely and demand accountability for its
high crimes — especially wanting it stifled on college campuses.
Equating
justifiable criticism of Israel with anti-Semitism aims to silence, maybe
criminalize, it. Anti-Zionism and anti-Israel are unrelated to hostility and
bias against Jews.
Israel is a
nation-state, Judaism a religion. Some of Israel’s fiercest critics are Jews,
clearly not self-hating ones.
Calling Jewish
state critics anti-Semitic is a long-ago discredited canard.
The same goes for
criticizing Zionism, tyranny by another name. The ideology is extremist,
undemocratic, hateful, ruthless, racist, destructive, and hostile to peace,
equity and justice.
It’s contemptuous
of fundamental legal, moral and ethical principles – a monster threatening
anyone and anything it opposes, a cancer infesting Israel, America, other
Western societies and elsewhere.
It considers Jews
and others unequal, Muslims especially demeaned, Palestinians viciously
persecuted and otherwise harmed by a ruthless occupying power.
Anglo-Zionism is a
hugely destructive force threatening everyone everywhere. Israeli persecution
of Palestinians is well documented.
The Netanyahu
regime is especially vicious, notably against Gazans, using live fire against
peaceful protesters, gunning them down in cold blood — willful and malicious
murder upheld by extremist Israeli Supreme Court justices.
Th IDF admitted
that nonviolent Palestinian protesters were killed despite posing no threat to
soldiers or Israeli civilians.
Settler violence
and vandalism against defenseless Palestinians is approved by Israeli
authorities and commanders.
When occurs it’s
called self-defense. When Palestinians defend themselves against hostile
Israeli actions, it’s called terrorism.
When the world
community fails to hold Israel accountable for its high crimes, it’s called
complicity.
In its latest
weekly report of Israeli human rights abuses in Occupied Palestine, the
Palestinian Center for Human Rights (PCHR) said the following:
During the latest
Great March of Return protest last Friday, 72 Palestinian civilians were
injured from IDF live fire and other hostile actions against individuals
threatening no one.
Civilians were
injured in Occupied East Jerusalem and the West Bank — 91 Palestinians arrested
for crime of praying to the wrong God, including 9 children.
Five Gazans were
arrested, including two children. Shooting incidents by Israeli soldiers and
police happen almost daily, house demolitions a regular occurrence, their
residents dispossessed to make way for exclusive Jewish development.
Five shooting
incidents happened against Palestinian fishermen for the “crime” of fishing,
one arrest made, the individual’s boat confiscated.
Nine other
Palestinians were arrested at 37 temporary West Bank checkpoints — established
to harass, intimidate, and terrorize nonthreatening Palestinian
civilians.
Throughout the
West Bank and East Jerusalem, soldiers rampage through Palestinian communities
multiple times daily, arresting adults and children, traumatizing others too
young to understand what’s happening.
Jewish Voice for
Peace executive director Rebecca Vilkomerson earlier said “(w)e’re enormously
proud to stand with over 30 Jewish organizations worldwide to say no to…harmful
definition(s) of anti-Semitism and yes to human rights and the freedom to
protest.”
These
organizations and countless numbers of Jews in the US and elsewhere oppose
equating anti-Semitism with criticism of Israel. One has nothing to do with the
other.
In Israel, Jews
and non-Jews are unequal in the eyes of the state, Muslims especially demeaned.
The power of Israel and interests supporting the Jewish state most often get
their way in the West – undermining efforts to hold its ruling authorities
accountable for high crimes too grievous to ignore.
According to the
State Department’s redefinition of anti-Semitism, it includes criticism “of the
state of Israel.”
It considers the
legitimate global BDS movement anti-Semitic, a Big Lie. It includes comparing Israeli
abuses against Palestinians to Nazi mistreatment of Jews.
What the Nazis did
to Jews on an industrial scale, Israel does to Palestinians in a slow-motion
fashion.
Nazi Germany
lasted a dozen years. Israeli persecution of Palestinians has gone on for over
seven decades — supported by the West, the world community doing nothing to
challenge it.

شیر کی ایک دن کی زندگی
گیدڑ کی سو سالہ زندگی سے بہتر ہے

شہید ٹیپو سلطان ایک روشن ستارہ کی مانند ہیں جن کی مجاہدانہ زندگی سے ہم سب بہت کچھ سیکھ سکتے ہیں۔ آج بھی ان کی حیات و کارنامے پڑھنے سے حوصلہ ملتا ہے۔ ایک بہادر اور شجاعت مند کی زندگی کیسی ہوتی ہے اس کا ایک اچھا نمونہ ہمارے سامنے آتا ہے۔
ٹیپو سلطان (10 نومبر 1750ء - 4 مئی 1799ء) ہندستان میں انگریزوں کے خلاف جدوجہد کرنے والے آخری حکمران تھے۔ آپ کا پورا نام فتح علی ٹیپو تھا۔ آپ نے اور آپ کے والد سلطان حیدر علی نے جنوبی ہند میں 50 سال تک انگریزوں کو روکے رکھااور کئی بار انگریزی افواج کو شکست فاش دی۔
شہید ٹیپو سلطان کا قول تھا:”شیر کی ایک دن کی زندگی، گیدڑ کی سو سالہ زندگی سے بہتر ہے“۔
شیر میسور نے برطانوی سامراج کے خلاف ایک مضبوط مزاحمت فراہم کی اور برصغیر کے لوگوں کو غیر ملکی تسلط سے آزاد کرنے کیلئے سنجیدہ و عملی اقدامات کئے۔سلطان نے انتہائی دوررس اثرات کی حامل فوجی اصلاحات نافذ کیں، صنعت و تجارت کو فروغ دیا اور انتظامیہ کو ازسرنو منظم کیا۔ سلطان کو اس بات سے اتفاق تھا کہ برصغیر کے لوگوں کا پہلا مسئلہ برطانوی اخراج ہے۔ نظام حیدرآباد دکن اور مرہٹوں نے ٹیپو کی طاقت کو اپنی بقا کیلئے خطرہ سمجھا اور انگریزوں سے اتحاد کرلیا۔
ٹیپو سلطان نے ترکی، ایران، افغانستان اور فرانس سے مدد حاصل کرنے کی کوششیں کیں مگر کا میاب نہ ہوسکے۔ میسور کی آخری جنگ کے دوران جب سرنگاپٹنم کی شکست یقینی ہوچکی تھی ٹیپو نے محاصرہ کرنے والے انگریزوں کے خلاف بھرپور مزاحمت کی اور قلعے کو بند کروادیا۔ غدار ساتھیوں نے دشمن کیلئے قلعے کا دروازہ کھول دیا اور قلعے کے میدان میں زبردست جنگ چھڑ گئی۔بارود کے ذخیرے میں آگ لگ جانے کے باعث مزاحمت کمزور ہوگئی، اس موقع پر فرانسیسی افسرنے ٹیپو کوبھاگ جانے اور اپنی جان بچانے کا مشورہ دیا مگر ٹیپو راضی نہ ہوئے اور 1799ء میں دوران جنگ سر پر گولی لگنے سے شہید ہو گئے۔
اندازِ حکمرانی:ٹیپو سلطان کی زندگی ایک سچے مسلمان کی زندگی تھی۔ مذہبی تعصب سے پاک تھے، یہی وجہ تھی کہ غیر مسلم ان کی فوج اور ریاست میں اعلیٰ عہدوں پر فائز تھے۔ ٹیپو سلطان نے اپنی مملکت کو ’مملکت خداداد‘ کا نام دیا۔حکمران ہونے کے باوجود خود کوعام آدمی سمجھتے۔باوضو رہنا اور تلاوتِ قرآن مجید آپ کے معمولات میں سے تھے۔ ظاہری نمود و نمائش سے اجتناب برتتے۔ ہر شاہی فرمان کا آغاز بسم اللہ الرحمن الرحیم سے کیا کرتے تھے۔ زمین پر کھدر بچھا کر سویا کرتے تھے۔
علم دوست حکمران:ٹیپو سلطان ہفت زبان حکمران کہے جاتے ہیں۔ آپ کو عربی، فارسی، اردو، فرانسیسی، انگریزی سمیت کئی زبانوں پر دسترس حاصل تھی۔آپ مطالعے کے بہت شوقین تھے اور ذاتی کتب خانے کے مالک تھے جس میں کتابوں کی تعداد کم و بیش 2000 بیان کی جاتی ہے۔ اس کے علاوہ آپ سائنسی علوم میں خاصی دلچسپی رکھتے تھے۔ آپ کو برصغیر میں راکٹ سازی کا موجد کہا جاتا ہے۔
عظیم سپہ سالار:ہر جنگ میں اپنی افواج کے شانہ بشانہ رہنے والے ٹیپو سلطان اپنے زمانے کے تمام فنون سپہ گری سے واقف تھے۔ اپنی افواج کو پیادہ فوج کے بجائے سواروں اور توپ خانے کی شکل میں زیادہ منظم کیا۔ اسلحہ سازی، فوجی نظم و نسق اور فوجی اصلاحات میں تاریخ ساز کام کیا۔
میسور کی چوتھی جنگ: میسور کی چوتھی جنگ جو سرنگاپٹنم میں لڑی گئی جس میں سلطان نے کئی روز قلعہ بند ہوکر مقابلہ کیا مگر سلطان کی فوج کے دو غدار میر صادق اور پورنیا نے اندرونِ خانہ انگریزوں سے ساز باز کرلی تھی۔ میر صادق نے انگریزوں کو سرنگاپٹنم کے قلعے کا نقشہ فراہم کیا اور پورنیا اپنے دستوں کو تنخواہ دینے کے بہانے پیچھے لے گیا۔ شیر میسور کہلانے والے ٹیپو سلطان نے داد شجاعت دیتے ہوئے کئی انگریزوں کو جہنم واصل کیا اور سرنگا پٹنم کے قلعے کے دروازے پر جام شہادت نوش فرمایا۔
علامہ اقبالؒ کی نظر میں:شاعر مشرق علامہ اقبالؒ کو ٹیپو سلطان شہید سے خصوصی محبت تھی۔ 1929ء میں آپ نے شہید ٹیپو سلطان کے مزار پر حاضری دی اور تین گھنٹے بعد باہر نکلے تو شدت جذبات سے آنکھیں سرخ تھیں۔ آپ نے فرمایا: ٹیپو کی عظمت کو تاریخ کبھی فراموش نہ کرسکے گی۔ وہ مذہب و ملّت اور آزادی کیلئے آخری دم تک لڑتا رہا، یہاں تک کہ اس مقصد کی راہ میں شہید ہوگیا۔
علامہ اقبالؒ نے ’ضرب کلیم‘ میں ’سلطان ٹیپو کی وصیت‘ کے عنوان سے اپنی ایک نظم سے شہید ٹیپو سلطان کو خراج عقیدت پیش کیا ہے:
تو رہ نوردِ شوق ہے، منزل نہ کر قبول لیلیٰ بھی ہم نشیں ہو تو محمل نہ کر قبول اے جوئے آب بڑھ کے ہو دریائے تند و تیز

سیمابؔ اکبرآبادی نے بھی ایک نظم ٹیپو سلطان کی تعریف میں لکھی ہے: اے شہید مردِ میدان وفا تجھ پر سلام تجھ پہ لاکھوں رحمتیں لا انتہا تجھ پر سلام ہند کی قسمت ہی میں رسوائی کا سامان تھا ورنہ تو ہی عہد آزادی کا ایک عنوان تھا اپنے ہاتھوں خود تجھے اہل وطن نے کھو دیا
آہ کیسا باغباں شام چمن نے کھو دیا بت پرستوں پر کیا ثابت یہ تونے جنگ میں مسلم ہندی قیامت ہے حجازی رنگ میں عین بیداری ہے یہ خواب گراں تیرے لیے ہے شہادت اک حیات جاوداں تیرے لیے تو بدستور اب بھی زندہ ہے حجاب کور میں
جذب ہو کر رہ گیا ہستی پر شور میں
